Hi folks,
I have the dubious honour of being the last ever Barr Thomson apprentice. I worked there right up until the firms demise in September 1993 and during my early training spent some time working at the forge on this press.

This press is still in operation at Arconic Forgings, Ickles Works, Rotherham.
Ed: Steven, many thanks for the information. Good to know! I believe the purchaser of the press from Barr Thompson was Firth Rixon, who was acquired by Arconic in 2014. John B
I was the junior draughtsman at Barr Thomson when this press was being installed.
Andrew Ross was the senior draughtsman and Tom Ferguson was also a draughtsman at Barr Thomson when the forging press was installed .
