Final event of the Fielding and Platt Community Archive Project

An occasion to celebrate its success on 27 September 2013

This event, held at the Global Language Centre on Friday September 27th 2013, gave the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Project and to ‘get together’ with old colleagues. In addition, opportunities were available to explore and contribute to the website http://www.fieldingandplatthistory.org.uk

In a second room at this well equipped Centre, some of the promotional films produced by the Company’s Film Unit could be watched.

A third room was in use for interviewing purposes.

The number of persons attending this ‘drop in’ event was approximately 80 over the four hour period. Light refreshments were available during this time.

At 6.00 pm Mr Barry Leach from Gloucester City Centre Community Partnership made a speech, thanking Ollie Taylor for his wonderful achievements as Project Leader. John Davis presented him with a ‘well deserved ‘Fielding’ tie.

Councillor Colin Organ then spoke and detailed the impact Fielding and Platt had had on the city of Gloucester. Ollie Taylor briefly explained the course the Project had taken and thanked all volunteers for their efforts. A toast was then made to the success of this Project.

During the evening one of the two plaques, due to be positioned at Gloucester Quays, originally the site of the Fielding and Platt factory, could be viewed.
