In this short clip, Marion Iles explains what happened when the canteen workers won a “Spot the Ball” competition.
As Marion explains, “Eileen Green actually had the car and she paid us and we shared out the rest of the money”. Eileen didn’t drive but her husband could.
“We won a few hundred pounds which back then was quite a lot of money … I can remember buying a radiogram with it!”
