On arrival at site some photos were taken to record the condition of equipment. One of the major problems was the progressive failure of an industrial chiller unit (used in connection with the anodising line). The unit appeared to suffer from corrosion causing leakage of the coolant fluid. Photos show evidence of leakage around the copper tubes and radiator fins. Photo JB315 shows the location of the chiller unit outside the building. Note the three exhaust stack on the roof! Now look at the last photo JB331. It can be seen that fumes were exiting the flue stacks and the prevailing wind passing the fumes down the roof (see the chemical stains on the roof) and over the chiller unit where the fumes were being drawn down through the chiller fans, thus causing corrosion. Eventually, the chiller unit was re-sited at the other end of the building.
